Holiday Shopping at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach

Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach - Amazing Shopping Center on a Lake

Holiday shopping season is around the corner. I don’t know about you, but as much as I love the holidays, it does seem like stores start putting out the glittery ornaments and the candy canes at Halloween! While I’m not quite ready to put up our holiday decorations just yet, if there is one thing my husband and I do want to get done as early as possible it’s our holiday shopping.
Barefoot Landing is one of my favorite places for shopping in North Myrtle Beach. I am going to perpetuate the “typical woman” stereotype and say: I love to shop! I LOVE IT! And I like saving money while shopping, too. My tactic for exploring shopping areas is this: get in, wander around, get lost, cry about it. That’s it. If it wouldn’t be for my hubby I’d wander aimlessly like a lost child. Oh, and in the end it’s usually not me crying. Little does he know I never go completely overboard. You do believe me, right?

Barefoot Landing area used to be a perfect ecosystem for wildlife and marine animals. This tidal area of ocean marsh land was hunted and trailed by the Pee Dee, Wampee, Waccamaw, and other native tribes since times unknown. President Washington traveled through the Barefoot Landing area in the late 1700′s on his trip down South from what is now Washington, D.C. Barefoot Landing began as a humble shopping center in the late 1970s. Previously known as the Village of the Barefoot Traders, a collection of 15 unusual gift shops, it started booming in the eighties and changed its name to Barefoot Landing in 1988, when it became one of South Carolina’s most impressive tourist destinations.

What I love about the holiday season here is that it’s always a mixture of sights, sounds, and tastes of Christmas so welcoming for a positive spirit. With so many shops fitting every style and taste, I dare say it is almost impossible for anyone visiting this swamp turned ideal open-mall walking-destination to be disappointed: gifts, accessories and jewelry, women’s and men’s apparel, you name it – Barefoot Landing has it all. We love the many options that this wonderful stretch of stores has to offer. And with so many sales going on at the same time during holidays, you’d feel like a kid in a candy store when your parents aren’t watching.

Clothing stores for men, women, and children at Barefoot Landing offer such a huge and awesome selection of merchandise. One thing’s sure: it doesn’t take long to satisfy my fashion taste, and style. And the next best thing is not make my credit card scream! Kylie Minogue said it best: “Can’t beat the feeling!”

Accessories are my favorite items, not only because they are a big fashion hit every year, but also because a few new ones make it so easy for me to freshen up each and every outfit in my closet. I love those accessories stores at Barefoot Landing, they provide everything you need: hats, belts, scarves, sunglasses, bags, shoes. Are you sporty or dressy, classic or crazy for fashion? I bet you’ll find something to match every dress in your wardrobe for any season.

Don’t get me started with the Jewelry shops at Barefoot Landing! Is there someone on my list that loves jewelry and accessories? Of course there is and to be honest, I always end up with myself on top of that list. You find any type of jewelry you think would be the perfect gift for your loved one or for yourself under the tree: great (and oftentimes unique) assortment of fine jewelry such as coastal jewelry and pearls, everything from the casual everyday styles to formal and special occasions . For me watches make a wonderful present and I never go wrong with my darling when I want to get him something special he would proudly wear at work. I could totally use up a whole week to eagerly run around all those jewelry stores with my arms wide open touching everything around me.

With how amazing Barefoot Landing is, it’s easy to forget that there is something equally amazing attached to it: the gift shops, with all sorts of holiday décor inside. Customized gifts and local souvenirs, toys for little ones and themed merchandise, collectibles and fine gifts, all these are waiting in the stores to get wrapped. There is truly something special when you give someone a gift that they absolutely love and the sheer joy resonates and fills the room. That look on your loved one’s face is something that is truly priceless and what the season is all about.

North Myrtle Beach tends to stay pleasant into December, so walking these grounds often does not come with bitter cold. It feels so great basking in the sun while crossing off the list of presents for family and friends. Being 95% done with shopping does not mean I won’t be busy all the way up until Christmas. We still have to put up the tree and stockings and wrap all the presents. If you get the chance soon I suggest you take in the magic of this time, come down to Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach and shop ’till you drop!
